Each side of this large tote has its own eye-catching design, energetic and saturated with color. One side is repurposed from a CORTE, a traditional Guatemalan skirt, while the other comes from a HUIPIL, a traditional Guatemalan blouse.
The bag has a zippered top, making it more secure than most totes. Though lightweight, the bag is sturdy and holds quite a lot -- making it perfect for travel.

What Is a Corte and What Is a Huipil?
This bag is crafted from two types of garments worn by Guatemalan women: recycled cortes (vibrant handwoven skirts) and recycled huipils (handwoven blouses with colorful embroidery). The cortes have a durable woven pattern, while the huipils are village-specific and one of a kind, embellished by the women who wore them.
These garments are hand selected from local markets, then washed and redesigned into a sturdy, functional everyday bag or travel companion.
